Buried-

Ryan Reynold’s is often regarded as a mediocre actor but this performance was nothing short of phenomenal. The whole movie is shot in a wooden coffin which explains the low-budget. An American bus driver is caught and buried alive while working in Iraq with just a lighter, flask, flashlight, knife, glowsticks, pen and a mobile phone. He has no idea as to where he is buried but tries his best to direct the US embassy towards himself and to stay alive till they arrive. The torture, the hope, the fear, they all get too intense. By the end of the movie I was curled up in the middle of my bed, my eyes flowing with entreat of his survival.

The Butterfly Effect-

MV5BMTI1ODkxNzg2N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMzQ2MTg2._V1_SY317_CR0,0,214,317_I had never heard about the concept of butterfly effect when I watched the movie. It took me a good twenty minutes to fathom what was happening and once I knew, it got worse. An hour into the movie, I had a headache; this movie is too messed up; a genius concept again with some good acting by Ashton Kutcher. You’d realise later that no end could have been befitting to the concept. Watch this with a free mind or it gets frustrating.

The game-

A person needs to be really high or a genius to think of a concept like this. It’s an enthralling piece of Hollywood with some breath-taking acting by Michael Douglas. The movie is brilliantly paced and is thrilling enough to not make you move from the seat. One remains in constant confusion about reality and game until the very end. The end is awe-inspiring and shall make you finally release the tension that had been held for the past 1.5 hours.

The man from earth-

I watched this in the morning with my mother. Neither of us moved from our place. It is one of the most under-rated movies in Hollywood. It’s about a man who claims to have lived for 14,000 years. The movie is primarily shot in a room with professors from different fields trying hard to disapprove the theory. One is forced to think how simply a man can actually stay in the society undetected for so long. The revelation of Christ takes the movie to a phenomenal level. Watch this to believe that you don’t need money to make a masterpiece; this could easily have been a YouTube video!

imagesMillion Dollar Baby-

While the first half highlights the struggle of a strong willed woman wanting to make it big in the boxing world, the second half takes up a very controversial social topic-euthanasia. Maggie (played by Hilary Swank) is rendered paralysed head below and is bedridden while she has to see the possibilities of recovery being lost. Later she asks her coach (Played by Clint Eastwood) to help her kill herself. What follows is about half an hour thrilling drama! This one’s a heavy tear-jerker.

V for Vendetta-

imagesThis one was based on an ingenious novel written by Alan Moore by the same name. The movie engrosses you from the very start, and why wouldn’t it? A guy convincingly promises to blow up the Parliament the next year! The character of ‘V’ is splendidly sophisticated which makes the viewers believe in his ability to initiate a revolution.  Natalie Portman does a beautiful job as well. I had to pause the movie after the imprisonment disclosure to gasp what had just happened.

‘Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.’- Even if you don’t understand it word by word, this scene is as we say has ‘Chaud’ and sets the tone for the entire movie.
